Chatsworth Bus Accident Update, Los Angeles: 2 Killed in Metro Bus Crash as News Helicopter Crashes, Killing 3

A deadly bus collision in Chatsworth, Los Angeles, California, was followed by another tragedy when a news helicopter covering the crash went down nearby, killing three people. The two incidents occurred within a short period, creating a large emergency response across the area.

The original crash involved an SUV and a Los Angeles Metro bus near Nordhoff Street and De Soto Avenue. At least two people were killed and several others were injured. Emergency crews responded to the scene as investigators worked to determine how the collision occurred.

As television crews covered the bus accident, an NBC4 news helicopter crashed in the 9100 block of North Mason Avenue, roughly a mile from the original collision. The helicopter caught fire after coming down near commercial buildings. Three people were killed in the helicopter crash, including two people aboard the aircraft and one person on the ground.

The cause of the helicopter crash remains under investigation. Federal aviation authorities and investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident, while officials continue to investigate the original Chatsworth bus collision.
