Deadly Rittman Shooting: Community Mourns Sgt. Scott Ries, Christine McWilliams, And McKinley McWilliams

The city of Rittman, Ohio, is grieving following a tragic shooting that claimed the lives of Rittman Police Sgt. Scott Ries, 54, Christine McWilliams, 43, and her 13-year-old daughter, McKinley McWilliams. According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to reports of shots fired during an apparent break-in on Chippewa Trail at approximately 9:30 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, responding officers immediately came under gunfire. Sgt. Scott Ries was fatally wounded while responding in the line of duty. Authorities also confirmed that Christine McWilliams and her daughter, McKinley, lost their lives during the incident.
