The Hudson, Wisconsin, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Gavin Edward Svien, who passed away on July 9, 2026, at the age of 16. His sudden death has left family, friends, classmates, teammates, and coworkers grieving the loss of a young man whose kindness, humor, and generous spirit touched countless lives.
Born on May 28, 2010, Gavin was preparing to enter his junior year at Hudson High School, where he was known for his positive attitude, welcoming personality, and dedication both in the classroom and in athletics. He participated in the school’s swim and dive team, played football, and had a deep passion for golf. Whether competing alongside teammates or spending time outdoors, Gavin embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and determination.
Outside of school, Gavin was a valued employee at the Hudson Rod and Gun Club, where he developed a love for the outdoors, learned the sport of trap shooting, and formed lasting friendships with fellow staff and club members. Those who knew him there remember his strong work ethic, willingness to help others, and genuine appreciation for the community that surrounded him.
Gavin also enjoyed working with his hands and had a natural curiosity for building and repairing things. He loved using power tools, taking on new projects, and learning practical skills, always eager to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed.
Family and friends remember Gavin for his bright smile, infectious sense of humor, and compassionate heart. His warmth and generosity made everyone around him feel welcome, and his love for spending time with family and friends defined who he was.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Roseann Svien; his great-grandparents, Mary Louise and James Svien; his uncle, Michael Svien; and his cousin, Ava Svien.
Gavin is survived by his devoted mother, Jessica Svien; his uncle, Paul Svien, his wife Jennifer, their daughters Allison and Olivia, and a large circle of extended family members and friends who will continue to cherish his memory.
A Celebration of Life honoring Gavin will be held at the Hudson Rod and Gun Club on July 23, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Though his life was far too short, Gavin Edward Svien’s legacy of kindness, laughter, friendship, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
