According to authorities, Ava was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash early Sunday morning along U.S. Highway 87 in La Vernia. The La Vernia Police Department reported that the crash occurred shortly before 4 a.m. when Ava’s vehicle left the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation. The vehicle reportedly struck the brick “Welcome to La Vernia” sign, overturned, and caught fire. Ava was the only person inside the vehicle.

Ava, a Corpus Christi native who had recently moved to La Vernia, was preparing to begin school when the tragic accident occurred.
