Fabian Vigil Fort Morgan, Colorado Death- Fort Morgan Wrestling Family Mourns Beloved Coach and Mentor

The Fort Morgan, Colorado, wrestling community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Fabian Vigil, a beloved assistant wrestling coach, mentor, teammate, and friend whose passing has left athletes, coaches, family members, and countless others devastated.

Fabian was more than a coach to the Fort Morgan Girls Wrestling program—he was a source of encouragement, guidance, and inspiration for the young athletes he supported. His dedication, passion, and commitment helped shape the program from its earliest days, leaving behind a legacy that will continue through every wrestler he influenced.

For Fabian’s longtime partner, Andy, his passing represents the loss of a soulmate and the person who stood beside her through nearly two decades of life together. The two first met at wrestling practice at Fort Morgan High School, where their shared love of the sport became the foundation of a deep and lasting relationship. Over 19 years, they built a beautiful life together, raising their daughter, Skye, and sharing their home with their beloved pets.

One of the happiest moments of their journey together came when they had the opportunity to coach girls wrestling at the same high school where their own story began. Returning to the wrestling room reignited Fabian’s passion for the sport, and he quickly became an essential part of the team’s success.

Those who knew Fabian describe him as intelligent, funny, compassionate, dependable, and endlessly supportive. He had a unique ability to understand what each athlete needed—whether it was encouragement after a difficult practice, motivation after a disappointing loss, or celebration after a hard-earned victory.

Fabian cared deeply for the wrestlers he coached, treating them like family and believing in their potential both on and off the mat. His influence extended far beyond wrestling competitions, as he helped shape confidence, character, and resilience in the young athletes he mentored.

The Fort Morgan Wrestling family credited Fabian as a foundational part of the girls wrestling program’s growth. His dedication contributed to a historic season in which Fort Morgan Girls Wrestling celebrated its first-ever state placers, a milestone made possible in part because of coaches like him who invested their time and heart into the athletes.

Tributes from the wrestling community have described Fabian’s passing as an immeasurable loss, while honoring the impact he made on students, teammates, colleagues, and friends.

As loved ones remember Fabian, they hold onto the values he represented: loyalty, perseverance, kindness, and a deep love for wrestling and the people involved in it. Though he is no longer standing beside his athletes in the wrestling room, his lessons and encouragement will continue to guide them.

Heartfelt condolences are extended to Fabian Vigil’s family, Andy, his daughter Skye, his friends, fellow coaches, and every athlete whose life he touched. His legacy will live on through the Mustang Wrestling family and the many people he inspired.

Rest easy, Coach Fabian. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
