Joseph Walker Jr. Death and Obituary: Richmond, Indiana, Community Mourns Beloved Navy Veteran

Joseph Walker Jr., a longtime Richmond, Indiana, resident and Navy veteran, passed away on August 2, 2026, at 201 NW I Street. He was 66 years old. His death has left family members, friends, and loved ones mourning the loss of a man remembered for his faith, family devotion, and service to his country.

Joseph was born on December 7, 1959, in Richmond, Indiana, to Joseph Walker Sr. and Carolyn Walker. He graduated from Ivy Tech and later served in the United States Navy. His faith was an important part of his life, and he loved attending church at Lighthouse Assembly of God in Richmond.

Joseph leaves behind a loving family, including his son, Joseph Gebhart of Richmond; stepchildren Tara Lamberson and Patrick Lamberson, both of Richmond; grandchildren Amiyah Gebhart, Brandilynn Thomas, Noah Lamberson, Elaina Musselwhite, and Evan Musselwhite; and great-grandchild Azaria Howard.

He is also survived by his stepmother, Sharon Means of Kentucky; sisters Gina James of Richmond and Chawana Garard of Kentucky; brother Anthony Walker of Richmond; niece Tennielle Walker; nephew Brandon Walker; aunt Eleanor Isom of Chicago; and numerous other relatives and friends. Among those who held a special place in his life were Claude McMiller and Ramone Ray, both of Richmond.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Walker Sr. and Carolyn Walker, as well as his sisters Tonya Walker and Kimberly Walker.

The family expressed special appreciation to everyone who helped with his funeral expenses and supported them during this difficult time.
