Michael Donovan “Boo” Paysour, Death, Kings Mountain, NC Obituary: Beloved Navy Veteran and Father Passed Away
The community of Kings Mountain, North Carolina, is mourning the death of Michael Donovan “Boo” Paysour, 54, who passed away on August 12, 2026. A father, U.S. Navy veteran, sports enthusiast, and longtime professional, Michael leaves behind his sons, Angelo and Dominic, his mother, sisters, relatives, friends, colleagues, and many others who knew him.
Born February 28, 1972, in Cleveland County, Michael was a 1990 graduate of Kings Mountain High School, where he played football and earned a varsity letter. His love for the sport continued throughout his life as he supported the Kings Mountain Mountaineers and remained a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He later served six years in the U.S. Navy, including time in Kuwait during the Gulf War, before studying at Gaston College and North Carolina State University.
Michael went on to build a career spanning more than 20 years as a nuclear engineer with Duke Energy. He also maintained strong ties to the local veteran community through American Legion Post 155, while his involvement with the Kings Mountain Country Club and Masonic Lodge reflected the many relationships he formed. Yet beyond his military service, career, and community connections, Michael’s most important role was being a father to Angelo and Dominic.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donovan Paysour, and grandparents Donald and Earsie Woods. Michael’s passing leaves a lasting void among his family, friends, former classmates, fellow veterans, colleagues, and the wider Kings Mountain community. Heartfelt condolences go to everyone mourning his death. May the memories of “Boo” and the life he shared with those around him continue to bring comfort, and may he rest in peace.
