Nancy Guthrie, Death, Arizona Obituary: Beloved Resident Passed Away Unexpectedly Family and Friends Mourn
The community of Pima County, Arizona, is mourning the death of Nancy Guthrie, although authorities have not confirmed that human remains recently discovered in the area belong to the missing 84-year-old. The remains were reportedly found near West Ajo Way and South La Cholla Boulevard, about 15 miles from Nancy’s home, but officials have stressed that there is currently no known connection to her disappearance.
Nancy disappeared from her Catalina Foothills home in Tucson in early February, and authorities have been treating her case as a criminal investigation. Investigators have previously said they believe she may have been taken against her will. Surveillance evidence reportedly includes doorbell-camera footage showing an unidentified masked person near her residence around the time she vanished.
The unidentified remains appeared to have been at the desert location for an extended period. Authorities must first determine the identity of the deceased and establish how the person died before considering whether the discovery is connected to Nancy’s case. Nancy’s daughter, Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, has continued appealing for information about her mother.
At this time, Nancy Guthrie has not been confirmed dead or found, and the remains should not be identified as hers without an official announcement. Her disappearance investigation remains active as authorities continue pursuing evidence and leads.
