Marty Brown Obituary: Tupelo Nurse and Mother Passed Away Unexpectedly at 52

The community of Tupelo, Mississippi, is mourning the unexpected passing of Marty Brown, a beloved nurse, mother, wife and longtime community volunteer. Marty passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the age of 52, leaving her family, friends and many others who knew her grieving a deeply felt loss.

Born on August 20, 1974, in Jackson, Mississippi, Marty spent much of her life surrounded by family and meaningful community relationships. Her journey eventually brought her to Tupelo, where she and her husband, Chan, built their home and raised their three children, Paxton, Carter and Chandler.

Marty met Chan while attending the University of Mississippi in 1995, following her time at Hollins College. The couple married on April 18, 1998, beginning a marriage that would become an important part of her life and legacy.

A nurse and devoted caregiver, Marty was remembered for her compassion and willingness to help others. Those who knew her described a woman who consistently showed up for people, whether by preparing a meal, offering a comforting hug, giving her time or simply making someone feel seen and valued.

Her commitment to caring for others extended beyond her profession. Marty helped care for her grandmother and mother and remained actively involved in organizations serving the Tupelo community.

Her community service included involvement with Sanctuary Hospice House, the Junior Garden Club and the Junior Auxiliary of Lee County, where she served as president. She was also a faithful member of The Orchard, where she gave her time to her church and the wider community.

Above all, Marty treasured her family. She is survived by her husband, Chan, their three children, her parents, siblings, extended family, 11 nieces and nephews and her beloved godchildren.

Visitation is scheduled for 12 p.m. until service time on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at The Orchard Tupelo. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Sanctuary Hospice House or to a scholarship established in Marty’s name through Junior Auxiliary of Lee County.

The specific cause of Marty Brown’s sudden death has not been publicly provided. Her family, friends and community are now remembering a woman whose life was defined by compassion, caregiving, faith, family and service to others.
