Ruby Rocha Gutierrez Passed Away at 19 — Ontario, Oregon Mourns TVCC Soccer Student-Athlete

Ruby Rocha Gutierrez, a 19-year-old student-athlete from Ontario, Oregon, has passed away, leaving her family, friends, teammates, classmates and the wider community mourning a young woman remembered for her kindness, energy and commitment to those around her.

Ruby died on August 30, 2026. Her passing has brought profound sadness to the Ontario community, particularly those who knew her through Treasure Valley Community College, athletics and her work supporting fellow students.

Born on July 4, 2007, in Ontario, Oregon, Ruby graduated from Ontario High School before continuing her education at Treasure Valley Community College. At TVCC, she was a student-athlete on the soccer team, a peer mentor and a member of the college’s CAMP program.

Her involvement in campus life reflected her dedication to education, athletics and helping others. Through her role as a peer mentor, Ruby had opportunities to encourage and connect with fellow students while building friendships that extended beyond the soccer field.

Ruby’s passion for sports began during her high school years. She participated in basketball, soccer and softball, carrying that love of athletics with her to college. Her time with the TVCC soccer program became an important part of her young life and allowed her to form lasting bonds with teammates and members of the college community.

She is survived by her parents, Rufina Gutierrez and José Luis Rocha; siblings Adela, Antonio, Nataly, Joshua and Cristal; grandparents; nephews Javier, Januel and Jovanni; as well as extended family members and many friends.

A vigil honoring Ruby was held September 3 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Her Funeral Mass followed on September 4, with burial scheduled at Evergreen Cemetery in Ontario.
