Padraig McNamara Obituary, Roscommon Town: Beloved Family Man Passed Away
The Roscommon Town community is mourning the death of Padraig McNamara, who passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family while receiving care from the doctors, nurses, and staff at Roscommon University Hospital.
Padraig, of “The Gardens,” The Walk, Roscommon Town, was remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was filled with love, family, and meaningful relationships.
He was the beloved husband of Paula and a cherished father to Trevor (Eileen McKenna), Serena O’Farrell (Tom), Elaine Galvin (Eamon), and Alison Trimble (Ivor). Padraig was also a loving grandfather to Lauren, Eimear, Emma, James, Padraig, Cian, Harry, and Lilly Rose.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paddy and Kathleen; brother Eugene; sister Eilish; and nephew Gene. His passing has left his surviving family members, including his brother Tony, sisters Mary, Catherine, and twin sister Jane, along with extended relatives, neighbours, and friends, grieving his loss.
Funeral arrangements will take place with removal from his home on Friday morning to the Sacred Heart Church, Roscommon, for the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial at St Coman’s Cemetery. Family flowers have been requested, with donations, if desired, to Roscommon Hospice or the Roscommon Branch of Western Alzheimer’s.
Padraig McNamara leaves behind a legacy of love, family devotion, and friendship. His memory will continue to be treasured by all who knew and loved him.
