Teen Shot at Largo College Campus as Nearby High School Goes Into Lockdown

A teenage boy was shot Thursday, September 24, 2026, at or near the Prince George’s Community College Largo campus in Largo, Maryland, prompting a significant police response and a temporary lockdown at nearby Largo High School.

According to Prince George’s County police, the teenager later walked into a nearby medical center at approximately 11:40 a.m. suffering from a gunshot wound. His injury was described as non-life-threatening, and he was reported to be in stable condition. Authorities have not publicly released his identity.

Police were called to the Prince George’s Community College campus around noon following reports of a shooting. Investigators determined that the teenager had been shot on the college campus, linking the shooting scene to the medical center where he sought treatment.

The shooting prompted precautionary security measures at Largo High School, which is located across the street from the college at 505 Largo Road. The school was placed under lockdown while police investigated the incident and worked to determine whether there was any continuing threat to students or staff.

The college also implemented lockdown and shelter-in-place measures during the police response. Those restrictions were later lifted, and officials indicated there was no known ongoing threat to the broader community.

The temporary lockdown nevertheless caused concern among students, parents, school employees and residents because of the shooting’s proximity to the high school and college campus. A large police presence was reported in the area as officers investigated the circumstances surrounding the gunfire.

As of the latest reports, police had not publicly identified a suspect, announced an arrest or disclosed a possible motive. Some reports indicated investigators were examining whether a person involved in the shooting may have left the area in a vehicle, but authorities had not released a public suspect description.

Detectives are continuing to investigate how the shooting happened and who may have been responsible. Additional information could be released as investigators gather evidence and interview witnesses.

For the Largo community, the incident was particularly concerning because it occurred on a college campus situated immediately near a high school. However, authorities’ decision to lift the lockdown and shelter-in-place measures indicated that officials did not identify a continuing threat to the community at the time of the latest reports.

The investigation remains active. Anyone with information relevant to the shooting may be asked to contact Prince George’s County police as detectives continue working to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
