Jenny Banfai Car Accident Kingston ON Obituary – Woman Killed in Crash at 37
Jennifer “Jenny” Banfai, 37, of Kingston, Ontario, died following a motor vehicle accident on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. Her sudden passing has left her family, friends, teaching colleagues, students, and community grieving the loss of a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.
Jenny is survived by her husband, Chris McKendy, and their two young children: Tommy, 3, and Lillian, just 2½ months old. She also leaves her mother, Michèle Macartney-Filgate; her father, Geza Banfai, and Catherine Karakatsanis; her brother, Thomas Banfai, and Kieran Daly; and her stepbrother, Alexander Karakatsanis.
Those who knew Jenny remember her with deep affection. Her family and friends are holding close the memories they shared, while colleagues and students mourn someone whose life touched many people. Her death has left an especially profound loss for her young family, who now face the future without her presence.
Jenny cared deeply about education and opportunities for young people. In her memory, her family invites those who wish to pay tribute to consider donating to Pathways to Education Canada, a cause that was important to her.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Centre, 50 Overlea Blvd., Toronto, Ontario.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the same location on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Family, friends, colleagues, and community members are invited to gather, share memories, offer condolences, and honor Jenny’s life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pathways to Education Canada.
Jenny will be deeply missed by her husband and children, her parents and siblings, extended family, friends, colleagues, and students. Though her life ended far too soon, the love she shared and the memories she made will remain with those who knew her.
