Bloomington Minnesota Shooting, Police Investigate More Than 100 Rounds Fired in Residential Neighborhood

Authorities in Bloomington, Minnesota, are investigating a major overnight shooting after more than 100 rounds were reportedly fired in a residential neighborhood, leaving one person with a minor injury.

The Bloomington Police Department responded shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, to reports of gunfire in the area of Harriet Avenue South between West 99th and West 102nd streets. Officers arriving at the scene discovered extensive evidence of gunfire, with numerous shell casings recovered as investigators began processing the area.

Police said one person was struck and suffered a minor, non-life-threatening injury. No deaths have been reported in connection with the shooting, and authorities had not announced any arrests in the latest available reports.

The scale of the gunfire prompted a significant police response and an extensive investigation. Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges said multiple armed individuals were involved and that approximately 100 rounds were fired. Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators reportedly captured the shooting, providing detectives with potentially important evidence as they work to identify those responsible.

Investigators are expected to rely on shell casings, surveillance video, witness statements and other forensic evidence to reconstruct what happened and determine how many people were involved. Authorities have not released a complete account of what led to the shooting or publicly established the motive.

Regional Law Enforcement Response

The Bloomington shooting comes amid a broader series of shootings across the southwest Twin Cities metropolitan area. Law-enforcement leaders from Bloomington, Edina, Eden Prairie and Hennepin County held a joint news conference Tuesday to discuss the recent violence and possible coordination between agencies.

Officials said investigators believe several of the recent shootings may be connected to gang-related conflicts. The discussion has prompted calls for a broader regional law-enforcement response, including renewed cooperation between municipal police departments and county authorities.

Recent incidents include a shooting outside an Eden Prairie High School homecoming football game that injured two teenagers, as well as another shooting at an Eden Prairie gas station. Four people were arrested in connection with the latter incident, according to local reporting.

For Bloomington residents, however, the immediate concern remains the investigation into the Harriet Avenue shooting. Police are working to identify the individuals responsible and determine whether the incident was connected to other recent violence in the region.

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the shooting or has relevant information, surveillance footage or other evidence to cooperate with investigators.

The investigation remains active, and additional information is expected as detectives continue reviewing evidence and following leads. Residents should rely on official Bloomington Police and city communications for verified updates rather than unconfirmed reports circulating online.
