DUBLIN, Ireland — Will Hennessy, a 23-year-old from Dublin, Ireland, is facing a challenging road to recovery after suffering a devastating spinal cord injury in a tragic accident on July 3, 2026. The life-changing incident has prompted an outpouring of support from family members, friends, former classmates, and the wider sporting community, who have united to help fund his rehabilitation and future independence.

According to information shared by the Will Hennessy Trust, Will sustained the serious injury following an accident after attending a concert. Before the accident, Will was preparing for an exciting new chapter in his academic journey. Having studied Business, Economics and Social Studies (BESS) at Trinity College Dublin, he was planning to begin a master’s programme at Smurfit Graduate Business School in August 2026.

A former student of Castleknock College, Will is described by those who know him as an incredibly kind, loving, energetic, and determined young man. His lifelong passion for rugby helped him develop lasting friendships throughout his school years, university experience, and involvement in sports.

Will is also the brother of goalkeeper Theo Hennessy, whose sporting community has joined efforts to raise awareness about the accident and encourage support for the family’s fundraising initiative.
