Oliver Taylor Oklahoma, Family Mourns Loss of Loved One after Battle with Cancer
On July 4th, at 7:41, one-and-a-half-year-old Oliver Olen Taylor passed away after a courageous battle with brain cancer, surrounded by the love of his mother, Michelle, and his family. Oliver spent his final months receiving treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, before returning home to Oklahoma.
Oliver’s mother, Michelle, held him and sang to him every day after his passing, unable to bear being apart from her son. As she prepared to say her final goodbyes and finalize funeral arrangements, she learned that her apartment — including nearly everything that remained from her and Oliver’s life together — had been destroyed by mold, making it unsafe for her and her nine-year-old daughter to return to.
Michelle now faces the unimaginable task of grieving her son while rebuilding a home from nothing, all while caring for her daughter, who has lost her baby brother.
Despite this devastating loss, Michelle has vowed to honor Oliver’s memory by pursuing a future in neuroscience, dedicated to research on the blood-brain barrier, so that other families might be spared this same grief.
This is a family in urgent need of community support — whether through donations of money, time, household items, or simply care. If you are able to help Michelle and her daughter rebuild and heal, please reach out.
