Jacob Rainwater Obituary: Beloved Georgia Tech Community Member Passed Away at 25

The Georgia community is mourning the passing of Jacob Rainwater, a beloved member of the Georgia Tech community, church family, and circle of friends. Jacob died last week at the age of 25, leaving family members, friends, former colleagues, and loved ones grieving the loss of a young man whose life was marked by meaningful relationships and a strong connection to his community.

Jacob Rainwater was part of the Georgia Tech program during the 2022–23 season, serving as an equipment manager. Although his role largely took place behind the scenes, his presence brought him into close contact with student-athletes, coaches, and staff. Through his dedication and service, Jacob became a valued and respected member of the Georgia Tech family.

He later graduated from Georgia Tech in 2024, joining the university’s alumni community and carrying forward the connections he had developed during his time on campus.

Following news of Jacob’s death, the Georgia Tech community expressed condolences to his family and friends. His passing at only 25 years old has brought profound sadness to those who knew him through the university, his church, family, friendships, and other areas of his life.

Funeral arrangements have been announced, giving those who knew Jacob an opportunity to gather, remember his life, and offer support to his loved ones. A viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, Georgia 30014.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the same funeral home. Family members, friends, members of his church community, and others whose lives he touched are expected to come together to honor his memory.

Jacob Rainwater will be remembered not only for his connection to Georgia Tech but also for the relationships he built through his faith, family, friendships, and community. His life was brief, but the memories and connections he created will remain with those who knew and loved him.
