Family and friends are mourning the unexpected passing of Terrance Kersteins, who died on September 5, 2026, at the age of 18.

Born in Hamilton on May 26, 2008, Terrance was remembered by those who knew him for his kindness, enthusiasm and infectious personality. He was the beloved son of Kim and Peter Kersteins and the cherished brother of Joey. He was also a treasured grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, leaving behind a wide circle of loved ones who are now facing his loss.

Terrance attended Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Elementary School before continuing his education at Cathedral High School. During his school years, he formed lasting friendships and made a positive impression on classmates, teachers and others who crossed his path.

Sports played an important role in Terrance’s life, with hockey holding a particularly special place in his heart. He had played the sport for most of his life, embracing not only the competition but also the friendships and sense of community that came with being part of a team.

Music was another passion that brought Terrance joy. He enjoyed singing and playing guitar and found happiness in sharing music with the people around him. His interests reflected his outgoing nature and his ability to connect with others through the things he loved.

Terrance also had a strong sense of compassion and a willingness to give back. He volunteered with the Canadian Council of the Blind, an experience that reflected his generosity and desire to help others. His beloved dog, Remi, was another cherished part of his life and remained a constant companion.

His family and friends are now remembering the many qualities that made Terrance special, including his smile, generosity, enthusiasm and zest for life. For those who knew him, his absence will be deeply felt, particularly by the friends and loved ones who shared his passion for hockey, music and community.

A Memorial Visitation will be held at L.G. Wallace Funeral Home, 151 Ottawa Street North, Hamilton, on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Memorial speeches will take place at 11:30 a.m., followed by light refreshments.

In memory of Terrance, the family has indicated that donations may be made to CNIB Guide Dogs, a cause that was close to his heart.

Terrance’s life ended far too soon, but the memories he created will remain with those who loved him. His family, friends and wider community will carry forward the memory of an 18-year-old whose kindness, friendships, love of hockey and music, and willingness to give to others left a lasting impression.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by everyone whose life he touched.
