TARA, ONTARIO — Christopher Mather of Tara passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in his 44th year, following a long battle with cancer.

A devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend, Chris will be remembered for the love he had for his family and the support he continually gave to those around him.

Chris was the beloved husband of Natalie (Kerr) and the devoted father of Grayson and Tucker. His children were at the heart of his life, and his family remembers him as someone who loved them dearly and was always there to support them.

He will be deeply missed by his parents, Cheryl (Doran) Mather and Brian (Lydia) Mather, all of Meaford, and by his younger brother, Steve (Emily Clemmer), along with their children, Maverick and Nora.

Chris will also be fondly remembered by his Nanny, Lois Mather; Natalie’s parents, Murray and Ann Kerr; her brother, Eric (Angela) Kerr; and their children, Kayla (Taylor), Dylan, Avery, Bradley and Ryleigh. He leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will cherish the memories they shared with him.

Beyond his family, Chris made a lasting impression through his involvement in the local community, particularly with Tara Twins Minor Softball. He was remembered as a dedicated coach and a valued member of the Twins family.

Ryan Greig, writing on behalf of Tara Twins Minor Softball, shared the community’s grief following Chris’ death.

“It is with extreme sadness we need to share our loss of a great Twins coach, and an even better husband and father,” Greig wrote. “Chris Mather passed away after a long battle with cancer.”

The organization noted that Chris and the Mather family had been proud members of the Twins family for years, highlighting the strong connections he formed through his involvement with the team.

The community has rallied around Natalie and the boys during this difficult time, with friends and fellow community members encouraged to offer their support and embrace the family as they navigate their loss.

A celebration of Chris’ life will be held at the Tara Curling Club on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m., with words of remembrance at 3 p.m. Family, friends and members of the community will have an opportunity to gather, share memories and honor a life that touched many.

In Chris’ memory, a trust fund is being established for his children, Grayson and Tucker, to support their future education. Those wishing to contribute may make cheques payable to Natalie Mather.

Chris Mather’s passing marks a profound loss for his family and the Tara community. He will be remembered not only for his years as a husband and father, but also for his kindness, dedication and commitment to those around him.

His family, friends and the Twins community will carry his memory forward, holding close the love he shared and the many lives he touched.
