Andrea Florence Obituary Casper, WY Death: Natrona County Community Mourns Beloved Nurse Andrea Florence
Andrea Florence, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and longtime nurse, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Central Wyoming Hospice, surrounded by her family. Her death followed a courageous battle with cancer.
The Natrona County Sheriff’s Office remembered Andrea as a valued member of its team who dedicated nearly 13 years to caring for others at the Natrona County Detention Center. As a civilian employee and registered nurse, she provided care and compassion to people entrusted to the facility, earning the respect and affection of colleagues and those she served.
Known for her kindness and sense of humor, Andrea formed lasting relationships throughout her years of service. Her dedication to nursing and her commitment to helping others became an important part of her legacy.
Andrea was born in Wyandotte, Michigan, on July 31, 1956, to John and Marguerite Rainey. She was the second youngest of six children. She met Donald Wayne Florence in 1971, and the couple married on August 17, 1974. Together, they raised two children, Tanya Renee’ Florence-Horning and David Wayne Florence.
Andrea earned her registered nursing qualification after graduating from Casper College’s Nursing Program in 1991. Her career included service at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Hot Springs, South Dakota, Wyoming Medical Center, Community Health Center and Park Place Assisted Living before she joined the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office in June 2014.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Don; her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her three sisters, two brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 10, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, followed by interment at Highland Cemetery. Pastor Bert Eldredge will officiate.
Heartfelt condolences go to Andrea’s family, friends, coworkers and everyone whose life she touched. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Central Wyoming Hospice in her loving memory.
