Sophia Gardner Car Accident Obituary Massachusetts, Sophia Gardner Has Passed Away, Uxbridge High School Student Killed in Worcester County Crash

The Uxbridge, Massachusetts, community is mourning the loss of Sophia Gardner, a 15-year-old Uxbridge High School student who died following a single-vehicle crash in Worcester County over the weekend.

The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office identified Gardner on Wednesday, October 7, after previously withholding the student’s name out of respect for her family. Gardner died after being ejected from a vehicle during the crash Saturday night on Chocolog Road in Uxbridge.

According to police, emergency crews responded to the area of 685 Chocolog Road at approximately 9 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a serious motor vehicle crash. A Ford Focus carrying three people had left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Gardner was ejected from the vehicle during the collision. She was transported to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, where she was later pronounced dead.

The two other occupants were also found at the scene. Authorities have not publicly provided extensive information about their conditions. The circumstances that caused the vehicle to leave the roadway remain under investigation.

Uxbridge Community Mourns Student

Gardner’s death has deeply affected Uxbridge High School, where she was a student. School officials notified students, families and staff of the loss and made counselors and support personnel available to help the school community cope with the tragedy.

Principal Michael Rubin said the school community was facing difficult circumstances following the loss and announced that the school’s homecoming dance would be postponed until further notice. School support teams have also been made available to students and staff.

The wider Uxbridge community has also rallied around Gardner’s family. A memorial has appeared near the crash site, with flowers and stuffed animals placed in remembrance of the teenager. A community fundraiser has also been established to help Gardner’s family with meals and other expenses during the difficult period following her death.

Crash Investigation Continues

The CEMLEC Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting with the investigation into the crash. Authorities have not yet announced what caused the Ford Focus to leave the roadway or whether speed, road conditions, mechanical problems or another factor played a role.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or may have information about what happened to contact the Uxbridge Police Department.

Officials have also urged the public to respect the privacy of Gardner’s family and avoid speculation while investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.

For classmates, teachers, friends and family members, the crash has left a young life cut tragically short. Gardner’s death is being mourned throughout Uxbridge as investigators continue working to determine exactly what happened on Chocolog Road that night.
