David Timothy Karvelas Obituary: Lafayette Christian School Mourns Class of 2025 Student and Athlete
The Lafayette Christian School community is mourning the passing of David Timothy Karvelas, a member of the Class of 2025 whose life as a student, athlete, friend, and family member left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
David, 19, of Hogansville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Born on December 7, 2006, he was a graduate of Lafayette Christian School in LaGrange and a second-year student at Truett McConnell University in Cleveland.
Following his death, Lafayette Christian School shared its condolences with David’s family and remembered him as a hard-working student, outstanding athlete, and humble friend. The school community expressed gratitude for the time David spent on campus and for the positive presence he brought to the lives of classmates, teachers, teammates, and friends.
According to his obituary, David was known for his calm and gentle personality. He had a genuine interest in other people and made an effort to get to know those around him. His faith was also an important part of his life, with his family remembering his desire to know and follow the ways of the Lord.
Music was another important part of David’s life and brought him considerable happiness. His family remembered him as a wonderful son and sibling whose presence brought immeasurable love and joy to their lives.
David is survived by his parents, Callie and Jimmy Karvelas; his siblings, Nathan, Jacob, John Paul, Gabriella, and Mitchell Karvelas; and his grandparents, Barry and Sherie Morgan and Linda Hoyle. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James “Jim” Karvelas.
A celebration of David’s life is scheduled for Tuesday, September 29, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Virginia Hand Callaway Discovery Center at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
As family, friends, classmates, teammates, and loved ones gather to honor his life, David will be remembered for his gentle character, faith, love of music, athletic achievements, and the meaningful relationships he formed.
